My former glory

Me in my better days, about 1989.  I looked and looked for a picture of my brother who was also a competitive body builder during the same period but I couldn't find one.  That was before everyone had digital cameras.  I thought you all would enjoy seeing a picture of him more than of me.

Hi Jan,
OK, now I'm interested, how do you look now?
Oops, I've missed your giveaway, I must go back and have a look.
Hugs,

Well two sides to a beautiful woman. I have never been a fan of those body building women. I appreciate staying in good shape but it looks so convoluted. Maybe I just don't understand. Yes how do you look now.

Oh, Jan, this is so great!! What a great picture and just look at those muscles. WOW!
This had to be an exciting time in your life. If feels good to be in shape and you had to work hard to get to that point. Did you win any awards?
So glad you posted this. (:

Anna Rosa, I look exactly the same now (LIAR) except with sparkles in my hair, no bikini and about 5 pounds heavier, with less muscle, and oh yeah, crinkles on my skin. Other than that, exactly the same;-J

Hi QMM, I was never one of those freaky huge women, I really just looked athletic.

Audrey, yeah, it was a good time in my life, I'm glad I did it. I actually did win lots of awards. My attic is full of dusty trophies. Hey, lets inspire each other and start working out again!

Ya ROCK Jan!!!
Then, and now!!! I still find it amazing how you were abole to have the focus and determination to do the work required to be in that shape.
I am too lazy....I'll settle for semi-FIT, and even that one is a bit away at the moment! LOL!!!
Beautiful!

XXOO!!

WOW! Cool girl...wish I could work on my body like that. Just a spec of the dicipline would be so nice. That's a beautiful picture. :)

First of all, Happy Sisterfriend to you all! Remember, no housework today!!

Anne, I wish I had that good of focus in my art work, or was as good an artist as I was a bodybuilder!

Marlene, thanks. A person needn't aspire to being in that kind of shape, just moving around more can reap rewards.

Lisa, squishy love is good too!

Audrey, thanks for the reminder, Happy sisterfriend to you too. so glad to have met you.

Susan, Probably wasn't me you saw although I was on TV a couple of times. I was in a magazine once too. That was pretty cool!

Nicole, I haven't been working out but one of my blogging friends and I have made a pact to start working out "together" so I started that today. wish me luck.

Marie, it is a shame so many of us, even when slender, think we are fat. I got my first Pit Bull when I was deep into BB, one of the things that attracted me to the breed was their muscularity and athleticism.

Tam, tiny steps. It only takes one step to begin the journey, grasshopper;-)

I think I am having hot flushes. Craud, I have to go to a meeting. Hey! You are supposed to warn me. Hahahahah! No really, I admire your determination. That is a lot of work. I am such a wimp. I was skinny and now I am flabby. Ugh! And you say you look the same. You could probably kick my ass in a sec!.

Jan said...

Ces! I was kidding when I said I look the same. Calm down!!:-) If only I did look that good still. No, it was too much work, now I'm an artist. But I'm starting to work out again as of today!!!

The picture is wonderful! I also had an athletic body once but I never had muscles like you did! Now I have 30 pounds too many (and will be starting to work out agains as of tomorrow! ;)
Have a nice week ahead!

WOW!!! 've never met a real body builder!!! It is amazing how beautiful a body can be. Not that I ever wished to look this good, but a few less tires would be nice. I went through an aerobic stage and so I know I COULD get in shape if I tried (well, that was 20 years ago so maybe now I CAN'T!) Thanks for the picture!

Mary Fox of Fox On The Run said...

She may not look exactly the same, but she is in wonderful condition...very trim and takes good care of herself. Thanks for sharing one of your body building pics. That does take determination.

WOW. That is amazing. I'm curious--how long after you stopped did that "look" persist? Probably hard to say. To be honest I am not a fan of anything that exaggerated done to the body. How do you feel about the whole body-building scene now?
