First up is, of course, the Robin. A few of them stick around here all year long but now the hordes have arrived and are staking out patches on the mown lawn. I was turning some earth today and every time I turned my back they were checking the dirt for worms.
This Gray Jay pestered me all day, begging for food. They especially like cat food, I usually keep some in my pocket for this reason.
Purple finch, or is it the house finch? I just call them the red birds. This is a female and male.
Here we have Evening Grosbeaks and Red Winged Blackbird.
More red wings. I love it when they flash those colors. I used to not have any, then one year I had a young male, not fully colored. Next year I had a fully colored one. The next year there were a couple more and each year I have more. They are only here for a short time before they begin raising their young so I enjoy them as much as possible while they are here.
One of these days I will learn how to put the photos where I want them, and text where I want it. But I'm not going to let it bother me right now, I hope you can put up with it too.
Be well.

Great pictures Jan. I love the grosbeaks and the Evening Grosbeak are my favorite. I so love that they visit my feeders.
Jan...
These are wonderful photos. I love that the gray eats right out of your hand and the purple finch is beautiful. I have not seen any purple finches here in VA, but I sure would like to. I truly enjoy watching the birds. You have a very nice selection of them visiting your feeders.
Jan, I've been blogging for over a year and I still can't get the pictures to go where I want them to. LOL!

hello Jan
nice to see you again I follow your blog from now on
warm regards Emmy
Love your bird pics Jan. You are so lucky to have a bird that eats out of your hand!
We have many red wing black birds here, not yet...I think I have heard them but not seen them. They are always around our damp areas and they sit on the fence across the road and sing. Delightful!
I think your finches are house finches....there is such little difference in color!
As to the photos, I spent three times the amount of time I normally do trying to get my post up, photos in and the type justified. UGH!!!
Your post is fine....don't worry.
XXOO!!
Anne
What fun, the birds must feel very comfortable with you! Coming right to your hand, that is amazing.
I love this post.
Have a wonderful and magical day Jan!
Hi Audrey, you have those Cardinals and they are flashier than the finches. They're all fun to watch. The swallows showed up yesterday!
Hi Anne, the black birds certainly have a distinctive voice, easily recognized even if you don't see them. I make up what I think they say, such as, "I'm such a pretty bird!"
Marie, the Gray Jays have become so tame here that anyone can hold out their hand and have one land, if you have some cat food there. Thanks for stopping in.
Emmy, thanks so much for coming to visit! You are very welcome here.
I love to watch them through the window but as soon as I go out they fly away. Too chilly to sit outside and watch. Maybe soon.

Hi Jan,
Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your kind post for me.
I am following you...YAY you now have 34 followers, I know I get pretty giddy when I see one too!
I want to try the Alcohol ink play that you have done..it looks like a lot of fun. I also love the Angel leading the lost souls across the river, how beautiful and soul gripping that is!! I look forward to visting you again.
Oh yes I love birds too. I have a couple of feeders in my back yard one for the wild birds and one for hummingbirds. I have been getting the cutest little miniature Georgia blue birds, they chuck the seed out of the feeder and the larger birds are on the ground eating and look up when their finished enough to say ok toss down some more now!! Lol...Have a great weekend and come visit anytime. Susan in Georgia
