The Mare and Marie

I received a call from the gallery where I have my fiber art. They did a big switch around and took all my work down, could I please bring in some new pieces and pick up the old ones. I do have new work to put in but I don't have all the labels and pricing and paperwork done so I decided to head on into town and pick up my old work before it got lost in the shuffle.
This is one of the pieces that was there. Hello, Marie! Haven't seen you in awhile, welcome home. I wouldn't have minded if The Mare and Marie had found a new home somewhere, but that's all right. I put so many hours of work into the beading on this piece, I'm happy to have it back so I can enjoy it again.
What do you all do with your piles of art work? The ones that haven't sold? I don't have enough wall space to display it all, maybe I should loan some out.
Be well.

I love this piece too Jan.
Ypou know what I do----I have large things rolled as they can be, and covered with fabric or sheets and then small things stored flat in a metal cabinet.
Any artist, over time, accumulates a lot of pieces that are going to be OURS, at least for the forseeable future. That is mo commentary on the quality, it's just what perks people's attention at the time. So I have had to find a way to deal with a growing pile of things.
If you have a space in the studio where you could hang things and cover them (along a wall) that works too. I have considered it here, but have a high ceiling I cannot get to, and am staying away from the ladder at present....
Rolling, hanging (covered) or flat in a cabinet. Those are my solutions. (or covered boxes for small art.

XXOO!!!

Just wonderful work I love all the beads. Maybe you should open a web site to sell your artwork. I have several and I mean several quilts and I hate to part with them. I have some hanging on the wall and some tops not quilted yet and some in a cedar chest. I enjoy changing them on the wall every now and them.

Like the idea that you might loan out your art for display! Maybe to a school or library, courthouse or hospital. Maybe your friends (hint-hint)..just a thought.

O April you are so subtle;-)

those are good ideas Anne. I do have the ability to hang things from my ceiling, it is the safest place to be mouse proof, but then they get dusty. I need to keep them mouse proof. The small ones I keep in a covered plastic box.

Thanks, Bunny, Not sure I want to go to the effort of creating a web site to attempt sell things. Just not a good time for unknown artists right now to make sales. That is why I took them out of the gallery. It is hard to let some of these babies go! After all the work we put into them, a little bit of our hearts and souls are in the best ones. The lesser ones, yeah, I let those go.

Jan - these are so beautiful I can see why you do not want to let them go! My suggestion would be for a charity auction. I have sent a few dolls across the country for auctions - it is for a good cause, you get a tax deduction and also get your name out there as most charities are more than happy to display your business cards or information you provide. A give-away is always good (sorry - I had to throw that in!!)

Hi Jan.
Thank you for the sweet comment.
I am still in SC ~ I have a few days work to finish yet. This is a beautful piece that you have posted today. It looks like you put a lot of time into it. I would love to see the other things you picked up from the gallery. Maybe if you post them, you might get offers to purchase them. (: One never knows.
Whatever you decide, I love seeing your art. It inspires me.
