Look at Lisa's giveaway!

Lisa over at http://indigosbeads.blogspot.com/ is having a giveaway of one of her fabulous beaded pieces, pictured above. Go sign up and then look through her blog and her Etsy site for some wonderful beadwork, soon to be featured in a major beading magazine.
Here is a little piece I finished recently. I had that rock in my pocket and I suddenly thought it resembled a Madonna, so I had to put it in a little stitched beaded piece. I'm always carrying rocks around in my pockets. They get smooth after awhile if you carry a couple around and they tumble together in there.

Be well.

Very Nice, it does look like a Madonna. I love rocks also and used to tumble them in a rock polisher, never thought to tumble them in my pocket.

This is a beautiful piece! I'm intrigued... do you mind telling us why you carry rocks in your pockets? Is it an exercise regime (cheaper than having leg weights!), or is it so they intentionally wear on themselves?

Madonna, indeed, how cool. :D

Judi asked why I carry rocks in my pockets? It isn't for the exercise. I just see a little rock that appeals to me for some reason. I think the first one was one I saw after my dog Risa had died. It resembled a heart and was the same color as she was, dark tan. So I pocketed it. One day another rock gained my attention and joined the Risa rock, then another. I began to think of them as being representative of my ghost dogs; this one for Risa, that white one for Ocha, this black one for Kali. After having these in my pockets for awhile I noticed they were becoming rather polished. I may have to do a post on this subject..........suffice it to say I now always seem to have rocks in my pocket.

When I saw the thumbnail of Lisa's piece, on my blog list, I thought it was a jellyfish. And, the rock does look like a Madonna. Two cool pieces.

Jan,
I love that the little rock looks like a Madonna - and its beautiful the way you set it in your stitching! What a lovely idea tumbling two together in your pocket - pocket power!

I like your blog site - its very peaceful.

I don't know about the wild salads though! haha. This is exactly what the dinner salads looked like in England - I wasn't sure what to do with them - they didn't serve any dressing... I was young ...

Hi Jan, thanks for stopping by my blog. Just so you know, I had more of my work on the walls and took it down as we were/are going to remodel but our loan was declined as we have a farm. Still looking for a loan but I will put the art back up until it is certain.

It does look like a Madonna! I still love all the icons of the catholic church, the church itself not so much. Beautiful work.
