Book work

I've not had a lot of time to be in the studio so I have snatched moments here and there and worked in my book.  I used the cover from an old Readers Digest Condensed book for this one.  I covered it with fabric and stitched some pages into and then decorated them.

No particular theme to this book but it did end up with lots of dog related pages.

I have been experimenting with paint and stencils and masks.

Some pretend writing on this page.  Don't bother trying to read it.

I may end up and write on some of these pages.  Or I might not;-)  This is still a work in progress, but I'm not sure where it is progressing.

Hope you all are enjoying your summer.  Or winter, depending upon where in the world you are.
Be well.

I love this Jan...It is very theraputic to glue things down and not really worry about what your doing but just having fun!
I took my journal with me to Tybee island and doodled while sitting by the ocean...ahhh wish I was still there. I have the memory though in my journal and so I can be there in my mind anyway!

Take care my friend and yes it is a strange summer for me too!!

Love ya,

Susan

If I could write half as vibrantly as your art, I'd be pretty good. Your beauty spilled out on the pages. Love the color combinations.

Really beautiful Jan! I have been thinking of you. I'm not in the studio at all--the summer has drawn me elsewhere. How cool that you had a visitor from faraway whom you met virtually! Watch out--I may show up one day...

Love how this has turned out~~it does seem to have taken on a life of it's own, which is most cool with any work.
To write or not to write; the pages and color are strong enough to stand without text, but then I am a text junkie, soooooo, if you CHOSE to...
:-)

Jan...this is just fun and creative. You are the third blog I've visited today that has spoken of "not being in the studio" and yet the creative process is ongoing. Thanks...the universe speaks through others and I am heeding the call. Strange is good word for this summer. I would say it is hard and strange.
You too be well. Linda

I have to get a journal started. This one is so inspirational. I love your choice of colors and think I have found a favorite combination of color and pattern and then look at another entry and it becomes my new favorite. Hope you're enjoying your Sunday. I'm loving the sunshine.

Don't think it has to go anywhere except along with you. Love your book, (interesting words in that pretend writing - if someone says don't bother to read, what are we going to do?!) Isn't it great to be able to work in paint, paper, fabric & as many bits & pieces as we want?

Thanks for your helpful commennts re my twig, yes I knew you'd love it but enjoying the different opinions, too.

Hi Jan
I'm having a 'catch up' day so it was good to come and see what you've been up to.
Your journal is full of life and inspiration! I especially like the stencil and mask pages.

I love your book! Taking Mary Ann Moss' Remains of the Day class, so I esp. enjoy looking at books made by others. You have lots of beautiful color in yours.

Your book is like a plant still growing and I am wondering how the last both pages will change.
