Blues

I've been working in my journals a lot this month.  I joined the Roses on my Table group Journal Journey and also the Strathmore online workshop with Traci Bautista.  It is fun, something I have always wanted to be better at.  Not sure if I am getting better at it but I'm having fun with it.

The January journal prompt was New In My Life.  Above are my first couple of pages in my new Strathmore Mixed Media journal.

I also made another quilt top out of mostly plaids and striped fabrics from my stash.  Now I need to sandwich it up and quilt it.

I did a trade with another group of online friends.  We all made prayer flags for each other and these are mine, hanging in my messy studio.  Thanks friends!  I love them!  (the friends and the flags)
Remember last summer when I posted this photo of my house and yard?
This is what it looked like last week when we had about a foot of snow.  It isn't a black and white mode photo although it does seem to be.  Note the tree that came down, narrowly missing the house and deck.  The birds are enjoying having it so close to their suet feeder on the deck.  They feel safer coming in for feeding.

Sorry I haven't been visiting blogs much lately, let alone posting on my own.  Been trying to spend more time in the studio and less time online.

Hope you all are enjoying your winter.  Or summer, for those friends from Australia and other parts South.

Be well.

It looks like you have been creating a lot in the studio. Makes mine look too tidy.

I love the pics of the house - both in the summer and the winter.

Have fun with your journals and on line learning.

I've been thinking about making a quilt top using up some of my stash and thought I had to stick with the smaller prints and was feeling restricted with the fabrics that I have on hand. After seeing this beautiful quilt top and the the variety of patterns and colors I'm feeling bolder. You've inspired me to be freer and more adventurous. The prayer flags look great strung across your studio like that. I think I could be very creative in this space. Have a wonderful week.

I love the prayer flags stretched across your studio! See you over at Roses. Oh and those little crickets in the background or little tree frogs-not sure which they are--but..very nice!

Jan, your time has been well used! I love that quilt top~~so cheery and the colors just pop.
The journal pages are, as I said before, really GOOD and really YOU. Keep it up.
And kudos on staying away from the computer.....amazing how much we can get done when we are not chained to the beast. LOL!

You have been busy creating lots of lovely things. Lovely contrast in the two photographs, though I am sure you much rather not have had so much snow.

The journaling is wonderful...I find it hard to keep at for long, my mind wanders. I adore the prayer flags and your quilt top. All so bright and happy.
And wow on the snow. We need so much more moisture here even though we have had a fair amount of snow already. Oma Linda

Goodness, Jan, you have been busy and creative. How wonderful. Your journaling looks great and the quilt topper is just as beautiful as all the quilts you make. I love your prayer flags. I think this would be a fun project. I give you a lot of credit for setting a limit to your computer time. It can be a time-eating monster. I am not on it as often as I used to be, but still too often. It seems to be my escape from the hecticness in my life.
I, too, am taking Traci's Strathmore class. However, I am two weeks behind and have nothing to show at this time. She makes it look so easy and fun. It looks like you've caught on well and are making some interesting and colorful things.
I love your snow. I miss it a lot. It has been much like a cool Spring here all winter and no snow.
Wonderful to see your post and all the art you've been making.

Your journal pages are great and you are obviously taking the prompts to heart by spending more time in the studio. I love the quilt it is so crisp and fresh. The prayer flags look lovely in your very interesting studio - tidy is not interesting it suggests lack of creativity. Glad you didn't suffer any damage to the house or deck

Good to see you here posting again, Jan. Really like your first journal page. Neat! And I really like your quilt top. Man...you are one prolific quilter. You really pop those things out! I would never have had the nerve to try all those different stripes, but your quilt really POPS! I like it! As for all that snow...so glad it's gone!

Jan,

Good to see you back blogging here!!
I do not blog as much as I use to as well.
Many reasons...mostly because I am making things and re-purpose things for my new Antique's booth that I now share with a friend. Having fun with that!!

I love the snow picture of your home and so glad that the tree did not do any damage to your home!!!

I love Traci Bautista's style. I have her first journaling book and love all the techniques she uses.

Also love the prayer flag in your studio...Your studio looks awesome with some great natural light coming in!!

Oh yes and the new quilt you are finishing up is a delight!! Love the layout of all the materials!

Girl You "have" been "busy"!!

Hugs and Smiles,

Susan
