Caretaking

Hello, is there anyone still following me? I know I haven't been blogging much lately so I'll be grateful to any of you still checking out this blog. Since I rarely go anywhere, I am the go to gal when it comes to picking a caretaker for others homes when they go on trips. This week I am feeding the neighbors cattle. They were waiting for me when I arrived today, mooing their hunger loudly.

Hope this big guy is friendly! The man didn't tell me to be careful of him so I will assume he is gentle as Ferdinand. Good boy!

All they are interested in is getting their hay and nosing into a full bin.

The feeder isn't the prettiest thing, but it is really rather ingenious. The man got an old motor home and converted it to a drivable feeder. He can fill it with bales of hay and move it around the field to feed the cows so they don't make a big muddy mess in one place. It works well!

After feeding the cows I mooved on to the horses, two gentle Paints.

All this farm equipment resting, waiting for next year and hay season.

Don't forget to turn the electric fence back on!
Time to leave the BBD in charge for the rest of the day.   Hope you enjoyed this little tour of a part of my day.  Now it's back to some art work.

Hope you all are having a safe and happy holiday season.
Be well.

Hi Jan,

Yep I am still here and a still a fan of yours too!!! LOl :)

That is one of the coolest feeders I have ever seen for the animals..a clever idea!

Funny you are a caretaker of animals and I take care of my Mom! Momo was in the hospital for a week recently for her legs. she had a problem with cellulitis..I think I told you about it already?
Anyway mom is home now and I have nurses and Physical therapists coming and going for a few weeks to help out. Crazy here!!

I have been thinking of you so I am happy to see your new post. You have been getting some chilly weather and rain recently right?

Here in Ga we have pretty nice days in the 60's and at night can get down the the 30's and 40's.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year too.

Love and Hugs,

Susan

Hi Jan.
You know I am absolutely still following you and will continue to do so. Love to see when you post something ~ always interesting! What a great neighbor you are to help those in need.
I have not forgotten you ~ I intend to answer that email you sent recently. I have been overwhelmed with things and dropping into bed every night. Not like me at all. This night owl is tired. Dr. changed my thyroid meds and I think that has something to do with it.
I will write soon.
Christmas Blessings, Jan!

Still following you as always Jan. That is an ingenious feeder. I do hate to see cattle trying to feed when they are standing knee deep in mud. This herd certainly looked glad to see you.

I almost didn't know it was you as your blog has been decorated for Christmas and nicely done at that.
That is some feeder. I'm trying to figure out how you can see out of the windshield to drive it around. Warm wishes for a wonderful Christmas. Hugs

But of course I'm still reading your blog. Looks like you had quite an adventure with the cows etc. Love that your neighbor has such a super idea in the moveable feeder. Very clever indeed. Great photo of the Monsterouso the Bull. Your neighbors are lucky to have someone to help out.
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and New Years. Oma Linda
Psssst...the grands send their love too.

Love to watch you taking care. The cows are so elemental. And the feeder made me laugh.

Thanks for the tour. Happy Christmas, Merry New Year, and grand and glorious 2012 to you.

You can't ditch this stalker so easy! The closest thing to cattle in my house is in the fridge and it will be me eating it.

How cool you do 'farming on the side'!! Of course, the paint horses (especially the one on the right) had me! I used to raise Quarter Horses & paints! Sure brings back memories! Sold my last horse in '89.
Now let's see some of your art work!! Since I'm not doing anything right now!

Jan...you crack me up! Couldn't believe it when I saw our feeder up there on your page. (Love your new winter wonderland background.) Bob will be pleased to hear how so many appreciated his feeder invention. It sure isn't pretty but it makes life so much easier when you can fill that thing with 80 bales at a pop...AND the field doesn't get so mucked up throughout the winter. Thanks again, my friend, for doing our chores while we were away for an early Christmas celebration with our kids! You are a GEM!!! I also can't wait to see more of your artwork!!! Merry Christmas, Jan! I lova, lova, lova you!
P.S. Maddyrose..it's hard to tell, but you CAN see out the drivers side of the front window. :oD

Oh I see you are feeding April cows and horses. Funny feeder, looks like some really creative man stands behind it. In the background I am just hearing Greg Brown, RexRoths Daughter, also very nice song! ;-)) Anja
