Llamas and Cows and Dogs! Oh My!

First of all I want to welcome my new followers!  Thanks for joining up, hope you enjoy this post from around the farm.
We had a fairly dry day last week and I enjoyed the walk, got to see the neighbors baby cows cavorting in the field.

Miss Grace enjoyed the wind giving her a little blow dry of her long hair.  Llamas always seem to have a piece of hay sticking out of their mouths.

The new born calves are so cute!  I love watching them run around in the field, playing at "The Calf Town Race Track".  Oh dee doo dah day!  Yeah, it was that kind of a day.

I always have to stop off and visit the neighbors steer.  The teenager next door is raising it as a 4-H project.  Every day I walk past "20" and bring him a hand full of fresh grass.  He appreciates it and bows his head so I can scratch his back.  It is our little daily ceremony.

I will be sad when he gets carted off to the fair.  Sometimes he licks my hand.  Have you ever been licked by a cow?

Tonka is doing well.  He is used to being around cows since he came from a cattle farm.
Charlie has pretty well adjusted although he still prefers to stay up high, out of possible reach by the new dog even though Tonka pays him no mind at all.
I mustn't leave Miss Sadie out.  She is such a sweetheart.

Be well.

You live in such a nice place. I would love to live on a farm, or think I would since for the most part I've always been a city girl. I've never had a cow or steer lick my hand, but when I was little I thought a cow had licked my head because my mom was always saying something about a cow lick when she combed my hair. Have a good day.

Awwww, Miss Sadie looks sad. I'm so glad you posted her picture. I just love Miss Grace's cute face. What a fun relaxing day you had. I would have loved it.
It is late, but I am staying up keeping watch - severe storms in our area and a watch for possible tornadoes. What a day/night it has been. So much destruction for so many people. I am not liking all these bad Spring storms.
Take care. Enjoy all those animals!

Baby cows, oooh, they are the best. We have a farm that raises belted galloways and those babies are the cutest, wooly oreos you ever want to see. We also have a couple of Scottish Longhorn cattle but no babies there, would love to see one of those! Those senior doggies are looking good. Llamas and cats, oh my! Baby donks have started to really hehaw. Freaks my pups out, they have no idea what that is....xox Corrine

Lovely to see all the animals. And yes, I have been in a field with cows and calves. Used to help my Father get the cows in when I was 3.

Hope you are safe.

Wow - such lovely pictures! I am with Audrey. Spring has been one weird storm after the next, and we are on a tornado watch right now. Love that pic of the llama. He looks like he is saying, "What? Who me?" lol! xo Pam

Hi Jan, Love seeing all the animals. Spring is a fun time to drive around and see all the new babies enjoying life. Never had a cow lick my hand as I am too afraid to get that close. They made us milk a cow on a field trip to the a dairy when I was in grade school and I did not like it.

Thanks, Jan. We are fine here. I hope our friends elsewhere in Blogland are all doing ok. How nice it is to know we have friends throughout the country showing concern for each other.

Lovely walk with the animals ....yes i have been licked by a cow and used to bucket feed the calves in my uncles farm by holding my fingers in their mouth to help them suck up the milk ...however at 16 it was this very reason that I became a vegetarian as it upset me that these poor calves were off to market .....i still am a vegetarian and feel strongly about it ........dogs look adorable ..and so does Miss Grace she looks like she has settled in now ....x

Oh I envy you what a nice surrounding!! Your four feet sweethearts are all well doing together that is a good news! Not hunting Charlie, also not the new dog what a good luck. Have more nice dry walks!

A horse yes, I know no cows! Lovely farm, nothing like the stroke of an animal to set you up for the day.

Once in India I was licked on the leg by a baby water buffalo when I was in the market. I felt something on my leg and was horrified it might be a dog (sorry, but you can imagine Indian dogs, poor things) and was quite surprised to see a cute little buff!

Your posts are so funny and piquant.

Jan you are a fantastic artist and live in an angelic place and ... perhaps no one knows ... an expert at herding cows. Thanks for leading them home.

From an adoring fan and fortunate neighbor!

Lovely photos Jan. I certainly have been licked by a cow - like being sand papered!
