Uninvited guest

I heard a furtive noise and looked to the shelving unit. Are those ears I see sticking up out of the bird seed bucket??
Hey! Who invited you in here??
Little scamp! I had to quit feeding so much food out for the birds because I was being over run by squirrels and chipmunks. Evidently this squirrel decided to seek out the goods. I kept moving the seed bucket around but he kept coming in and finding it. I had put it up on this high shelf thinking he would be foiled finally but no, he still found it! He must be able to smell it. I had to put the bucket into a metal garbage can with a weight on top. He has given up.

See all those squash in the photo? Those are left over from last summers garden. We ate heartily of squash all winter, gave lots away but have these remaining. They are solid still, you can see the Sweet Meat and a spaghetti squash.

Don't forget about my giveaway that is in my previous post. You can still sign up for it until Sept. 11 or until I read my email on Sept. 12 morning. Good luck to everyone who has signed up so far!

Be well.

Oh my Jan...I had a squirrel one year who decided he would eat only the bird seed I had in a dish nailed to the deck post one year..he got so fat that he would lay down next to the dish and he would keep his head in the dish and eat and his big fat belly would hang over the rail!!! I called him Fat Dave!!! He was quite rotund!!
You have quite a lot of squash..I would eat it all up if I were around and then I would be Fat
Susan!!!

Hugs and Smiles,

Susan

We manage to keep out the squirrels but the chipmunks are too smart for us!! At least they don't just bury everything. They take it for winter storage! That we don't mind...
Have a Wonderful Day!

Those guys are so wiley!!
I had to put my seed in a metal can to keep the mice out!

I let the squirrels eat my seed..outside. I have a try I put their seed on in an effort to keep them out of my Cardinal Feeder. For the most part, that works.

Aw, he's cute. :) We had to resort to the metal bin with the lids because of the squirrels and the raccoons. :) I have tried putting a squirrel feeder away from the bird feeder, but they still eat from the bird feeder! ;) Have a great weekend - xox Pam

I know I should NOT be laughing....but....heeheehee! They are stinkers! And, worse than that, they are SMART and I guess they visually remember things? Saw a special once where they said a Squirrel has a built in GPS system to put the computerized ones to shame......you're on his chart! Watch the squash!
And that sweet meat is beautiful! Years ago I tried growing them but the bugs and mice had a field day and I had nothing to show for the efforts. *sigh* Oh welll...... ;)

LOL, He is too cute to get mad at. We have quite a time with the squirrels and chipmunks but I love watching them as much as watching the birds. The mice though are a different story, just as soon they weren't around.

Now that is too funny. We get them too but we put our seed in a locked container LOL. On the other hand we have racoons that are very smart they can open anything even heavy gaged wire on our wet food containers. No more collecting wet food goes down the garborator.

What a hoot!! The photo makes he look like a black squirrel but I'm sure he's not. We used to feed the squirrels by hand at our last house. We hated to leave the house just because of the squirrels..now we've just resorted to feeding the birds and squirrels..what a home owner to do, right!

Dear Jan, since last year squirrels become one of my favorite animals. I also have a calender in my office only with them on it. You just had have a camera in the right moment, sometimes one don't have one around when good fotos could be shot. Amazing that your last year squash is still in so good shape! Have nice late summer days! Anja

OMGoodness, how cute is that!!! Is he in THE HOUSE??? Storage room??? I suppose the cute factor depends on where he is! OOoooo do you have lots of pumpkin and squash stems? I need an abundance of them....seriously. **blows kisses** Deb

Is that a squirrel INSIDE the house? How did he get in? And doesn't Rocky object to squirrels in the house? You don't seem as surprised as I would be!
