Marathon Sewing

I knew there was a baby shower coming up but I had forgotten what day so I searched around for the invitation and lo and behold it was Saturday.  And this was Tuesday! Luckily I have my go to quilt pattern, Wicked Easy Quilts, and I was able to whip this one up in a couple of days, plenty of time to have it wrapped up for the party.  My friend Anne  over at http://elmilagrostudio.blogspot.com/ had recently sent me a box of juvenile print fabrics so I was able to put several of them to use in this quilt.  (thanks Anne!)  I didn't go to the shower but I heard the quilt was well received.  I used a hot pink solid soft rayon for the backing, same as the binding.

I make and sell dog collars at my veterinary's office and I needed to replenish that supply so I have been stitching these up for the past couple of days off and on.  Above are some of the fabrics I use to cover the nylon webbing.

Here are a bunch of the finished collars.  Cute, huh?

i
It finally got warm here, been about 90 for the past couple of days.  I like to sleep outside occasionally and have been for the past couple of nights.  Since the Perseid meteor shower was going on, it was a good time to be out under the stars.  You can see Rocky's bed there next to mine.  Charlie cat sleeps cuddled up against me too so we are all pretty cozy.  It was so gorgeous when I awoke at 3am and looked up at those stars.  Not a cloud in the sky and no moon, it doesn't get any better than that around here for star gazing.  No cities close by so not much unwanted light.

Hope you all are having some more moderate weather.  I know many of you can hardly wait for autumn but I am just glad we are finally getting some summer.

Be well.

I love those dog collars! Especially the skelly one. :) I would love to sleep out under the stars, but unfortunately, the mosquitos love me to pieces. I have to dip myself in bug repellent! lol! Lovely quilt! xo Pam

Where shall I start? The baby quilt looks good and one surely can wash it in the washing maschine. The collars, never never and never seen such before, yeah!! Do you seal them for protection of dirt?
Your nice under-the-sky-bed, mmmhhh it looks so cuddly. That must be a nice deep sleep out there. Here we have suddenly polar coldness, brrr, no idea to make that.
So looks you are having a good time!

Jan, I have no idea how I missed this post....good old Blogger!
I am delighted the juvenile prints worked and they looked so GOOD together! (they never looked that good in my closet of fabrics...)
But those dog collars ROCK!!! THey are sooo cool; I can just see the different types of dogs wearing them---big bruisers, little happy dogs, spiffy dogs....tres chic!!!
You are a busy, creative girl! BRAVA!!!

I love your felt pieces a few posts back...what fun!
Sure jealous about your weather...and we're too close to town to see many stars...have to drive a way to see a lot...and it's way too cold to sleep out, darn it, unless I visit friends inland!

Love the doggie collars, way cool! The quilt is very nice also, plus sleeping under the stars would be awesome! This summer in Iowa if someone had tried that they would have been eaten alive by animal and woman eating mosquitoes :).

I like the dog collars too! Just beautiful! Ever think about doing a tutorial? I doubt that one would keep my VERY strong dog on the leash but I'm sure my cats would appreciate it if I made them something new.
