Weaving fiber

A few years ago I became enamored of the work of Helen Banes and her pin woven necklaces. I had her book, Beads and Threads and followed her instructions to make these necklaces. I have only worn them a couple of times. I guess the fun was more in the making. Too fancy for me since I mainly wear T-shirts. Still, they are rather striking.
The one below used all my own hand made polymer beads. The thread is just regular embroidery floss.
These have all been hanging on my wall for a couple of years as a display. I took them down, maybe I will remember to wear them now. Tomorrow I will show you what I put up in their place.

Be well.

I will never grow tired of bead work. Just beautiful. I'm of the school which says beadwork can always be worn with a tee-shirt or button down shirt. It's honoring the crafter that counts no what you wear. *wink* I love how yours turned out and the colors you used. Well done. Tammy

Martha, I can loan you the book if you really want, or maybe I will just take a couple of pictures of the process and send them to you.

Thanks for commenting, Ms. Tangible (I should figure out what your real name is)now that these aren't out of reach on my wall, maybe I will wear them. I can just see myself, catching them on something while I'm feeding the llamas or carrying an armload of firewood...

It is obvious that a lot of work went into these, Jan.
I am eager to see what you hung in their place. Something you made, no doubt??
Llamas? I missed that. I guess I didn't go back far enough on your blog when I started following. I love llamas. You have them? I don't know much about them, but I have always liked the look of them and I think they have sweet faces.

Hi Audrey, yes, I have 5 llamas. Maybe I will post some photos of them soon. You llook like someone who would like llamas, you have a gentle expression. I have only seen one tiny picture of you, of course. I guess I gather more gentle nature from your peaceful photographs too.
